Obsession - studio

Story Behind The Song

Obsession was written at 3 am with considerable force. I had gone to bed early in the morn, after having a naked intellectual spiritual session with many folks in the Biker Bar on CU-SeeMe, years ago. Honest I helped a couple of guys through some pretty tough stuff. I had just had an intensive session with someone called unforgiven, he was saying, "yeah yeah, I know I know but it's harder to do than to say." I knew this was true. I went to bed about 2 am feeling unsettled. At 3 am I woke up with a start. The song was playing in my head, Intro and all. I wrote the song in a half an hour. The original words were: I lost my job see and the love of my life...They are different now, more directed towards the obsession focus. I think it's mostly that I saw so much of myself in the depression, obsession, focused refusal and inability to see. IT is such a relief to know I am beloved and free. Many people who have heard this song like it the first time they hear it. So many of us relate....

Song Description

This person doesn't want to be helped or do they? We know the light is our own, but we cling to what they know the darkness. Indulging in mundane, consumerism for example, can distort our view in time. Rather than going by the myth of time is money, why not go by the myth of time is being. Oh shut up and let me continue in my dark refrain! deep.

Lyrics

Obsession

Please do not disturb me
I'm preoccupied
With my own obsession now
Yes it's my job see
And the love of my life
It's my design somehow
Yes it is mine I claim it as my own
It is this I will not deny
YOU You want to take it away
But it's mine yes It's mine...yes it's mine , It's all mine

Do not instruct me
For I am wise
To you and your Unity
So long forgotten
Been entertained with lies
Pretending impurity
I keep depression close
My Own Personal Host
It's this I will not deny
And YOU You would seduce me with Light
But it's bright, yes it's bright, yes it's bright it's too bright,
Although it's mine

Do not admonish
For your mind
Is what empowers mine
Personal comforts
Indulging in mundane
Distorting our view in time
Please see me free
Of remorse and humility
Though warm and cozy am I
And YOU oh You want me to see
But I'm blind yes I'm blind yes I'm blind,
It's too bright
Although it's mine

Do not disturb me I'm preoccupied.
